The first release of Angels Envy Rye is a tour de force of rich complex aromas and flavor. Like standard Angel’s Envy the rye is finished in special casks except instead of port Lincoln Henderson chose used Caribbean Rum casks. The result is a whiskey exploding with dark vanilla, praline notes, sweet molasses, butterscotch, and sweet caramels all right up front. The mid-palate opens up to reveal flavors of french toast topped with maple syrup, grilled plantains, confectioners sugar, tropical fruits and finally a finish of oak and rye spice. Definitely not a whiskey you are likely to forget.
