From 2000 through 2004 Jalisco experienced an agave shortage, forcing producers to purchase Espadin from one of Oaxaca’s most powerful growers, Paciano Cruz Nolasco. They brought with them baby Maguey Azul to plant in case there was another shortage. Seven years later, Del Maguey San Luis del Rio Azul has been produced in very limited quantities from this same Weber Blue Agave, offering a unique opportunity to experience Jalisco tequila when it’s been produced like an Oaxacan mezcal.
