Maple cask finished bourbons have emerged as a favorite new category over the last few years, meeting our need for breakfast for dinner with an adult twist. The rich caramel and vanilla imparted by American oak are reflected and enhanced by the maple tree’s sap, while also adding complex flavors of butterscotch, cinnamon, burnt sugar, and a touch of sweetness to mellow the alcohol. The releases up to now have been tasty, but most of them polish up a younger or medium aged whiskey.
