El Buho Mezcal is made with agave Espadin in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca. Though El Buho is marketed as a great way to “spice up your cocktails,” it’s also a pretty good sipping mezcal. It’s versatile as a mixer or a sipper. When sipped neat, it has notes of caramel, vanilla, salt, citrus, and dark chocolate. This mezcal is a product of the Jimenez family, who have been making great mezcal for five generations.
