In addition to American bourbon barrels and sherry casks though, Gold Reserve also introduces virgin oak barrels to the mix, which contribute hints of spicy new wood.

This complex blend of two different pot still whiskeys and one grain whiskey, matured in a combination of bourbon barrels, sherry casks and virgin oak, keeps Billy extremely busy, as you can imagine. Each component needs to be carefully monitored and tasted until it reaches, in Billy’s view, the perfect moment to create the final blend.
