The Second Coming of Criollo

After the 2018 Criollo Blanco created for her first son, Abel, Shopie Decobecq chose not to repeat herself.

Not wanting to “compare children,” she took a different path for her second son, Elies.

Instead of another Blanco, she created Criollo El Dos.

Criollo El Dos is a new expression, crafted from a blend of anejo, extra anejo with a touch of reposado, designed to bring depth, texture, and complexity from ageing to the singular character of Criollo agave.

What’s a Criollo?

“Criollo” are a special type of blue agaves. They remain smaller even when mature and feel sticky to the touch, indicating high sugar content. Even raw, they distinguish themselves with a rich, aromatic profile. Sophie knew immediately; a tequila made exclusively from blue agave criollo had to exist.
