Grand Old Parr 12 year is a solid blended whisky. On the nose, we detect some subtle whiffs of peat with orange, raisins (most likely sherry), and soft vanilla. On the palate, the sweetness of the grain comes in to play nicely with the darker richer notes of raisins, orange, and brown sugar. Solid, and pleasant, we enjoy the structure of this blend. Nice nose, solid palate, and a solid finish. A fitting tribute to Thomas Parr, the Englishman for whom this blend is named after. Mr. Parr died at the ripe old age of 152 in the year 1635.
